Welcome

My names Rosie, I'm a teenage girl who has made the decision to become Vegetarian and this is my help to more Teens that want to make this change.
I love animals, nature and art. After watching a video I knew I wanted to do more than just occasionally eat meat. I had never really had the chance to become vegetarian since my family is huge with food. So for lent of 2013 I finally had my opportunity. I finally told my family I wanted to make it a commitment and they said it was my choice.
So this is my help to you. They say teens shouldn't be vegetarian but I'm here to help you.

The Video.

So in a YouTube episode of 'Discussion Time' on my account of beautifulmusicXD I said there was a video by What Came Before on why Brendon Urie was a vegetarian. Well I found the link.

WARNING: IF YOU ARE SCREAMISH, DO NOT INTEND ON BECOMING VEGETARIAN OR DO NOT LIKE NIGHTMARES AND CRYING TO NOT WATCH THIS VIDEO.

Protein and Quorn

Proteins
This is my link of proteins for you:

Quinoa- key with amino acids. Just one cup of cooked quinoa contains 18 grams of protein, as well as nine grams of fibre.

Whole GrainsOther whole grains, including whole grain bread, brown rice, barely are all healthy protein-rich foods for vegetarians and vegans as well.

Beans and Lentils- All beans, lentils, and peas are an excellent vegetarian and vegan source of protein, so eat whichever one you like! Black beans, kidney beans, Soy beans, split pea soup and chickpea hummus - pick one and watch the protein grams add up.

Tofu and Soy- Soy is such a flavour chameleon that you'll never get bored! You may have tried tofu and soy milk before, but what about edamame?

Nuts, seeds and Nut butters- Nuts, including peanuts, cashews, almonds and walnuts all contain protein, as do seeds such as sesame seeds and sunflower seeds. Most nuts and seeds are high in fat so are best as a snack. Then of course everyone has heard of peanut butter

The Truth Behind Quorn

So many will have become vegetarian because of environmental needs. Unfortunately, the yummy meat substitute of Quorn is actually not just made of mushrooms. It's actually grown in large fermented tanks. They extract micro-proteins and use them to make foods that taste very much like meat.

A handy website to learn more about the truth of quorn would be: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/health/dietandfitness/3318997/Whats-the-truth-about...-Quorn.html

So there is my help for today guys :D

What is this?

Hey guys, My names Rosie. My birthday is 22nd of July and I'm from England. Aside from that I love animal hats, music, art and writting. I adore nature and plants and i most definately enjoy my food however little i may eat. My favourite animal is the Great Panda and my favourite colours are green and pink. My favourite food was sushi till i realised that fish is still a meat. So what is this you may ask. This is a blog of my life being a vegetarian. On Saturday 9th of march I realised I not only wanted to be vegetarian for lent but to make the switch and be commited. The reason for this was for the environment and animals. The animal right issue is a great deal, infact in year 7 I became a vegan for a project just to prove it was easy to male a switch and to encourage others. I believe what they do to animls is truley sickening and the fact that the environmet is being destroyed is also horrific. I'm sadly very ill right now but I'll post soon. In the mean time please enjoy this photo of my Chicken, Maybel who was adopted from a farm near Rugby along with 5 others. Rosie x
